Preview: Devils Travel To Commerce

After a Week's Delay, Devils Travel to Commerce To Cage #2 Tigers

First we start with three consecutive fourth-quarter comeback wins for the Tigers over our Devils that started when Lincoln County last visited Tiger Stadium -- that is the streak that Larry Campbell is most interested in this Friday night in Commerce.

Then we add to this mix that Commerce is undefeated and ranked #2, and Lincoln County is #3, according to the AJC.

Oh by the way, for a little extra frosting, a win gives Coach Campbell the Georgia All-Time Wins record by himself.

And what we have is, without a doubt, the Game of the Week in Class A -- and what could be another classic game in this rivalry.

Like Lincoln, Commerce has also had a case of fumble-itis at times this season. According to The Georgia High School Football magazine in its preseason outlook, "[Commerce coach Steve] Savage must replace a lot of offensive firepower, but an experienced offensive line should make that a bit easier. The OL has three 2-year starters back, including C Adam Cochran, OG Taylor Massey, T Kenny Flint, and G Tommy Eason. The key to the offense will be finding replacements at QB and RB to carry on the option attack, as RB Larm Daniels (728 yards rushing on 159 carries) and QB Rob Brown (499 yards passing, nine TDs) were lost to graduation."

Before last year's game, Coach Savage said about Lincoln County: "That's the pinnacle of football in Class A right there. They understand what that is and what it takes to get there."
