Polls: Devils drop out of Top 10s after upset

November 06, 2002

For one of few times in last 3 decades, Lincoln County is not in the AJC or the AP Top 10.

The Red Devils upset loss to Johnson County dropped them from the both major Top 10s this week. Ironically, in the AJC list, the Devils were replaced by undefeated Twiggs County, Lincoln's opponent this week.

#3 Metter still faces big games against Savannah Country Day and Calvary Baptist. #4 Landmark has clear sailing into the playoffs after beating perennial contender Bowdon last week.

#5 Miller and #6 Taylor face off this week for the 2-A title. #7 Pelham takes its shot at #1 Clinch in Homerville this week.

#8 Commerce is all but out of the 8-A title chase, but must play well against Jefferson and Social Circle for a good playoff spot. #10 Gordon Lee is undefeated but is just starting its region schedule, which includes Trion, Temple, and Bremen (all with winning records).
