THE LINCOLN JOURNAL December 1, 1938 The Lincolnton High School football team will close the season with Elberton under the Granite City floodlights Friday night, the game to decide the Tenth District championship. Elberton has had a strong schedule and has not lost a game. Lincolnton has not been defeated by a conference foe, and this brings on the contest to decide the district champions. According to all the dope and all that stuff, Elberton is slated to win, but who knows? The old "dope bucket" has been upset many times this season, and the Lincolnton lads being a never-say-die lot – there’s no telling what can or might happen.
